ANH PHAM
HELLO I'M ANH P.
I LOVE CREATING VALUES.
Who am I?
Where is my home? Why do I call it home?
Vietnam. Vietnam. Vietnam. One word. Two syllables. So simple yet moves me every time. Just the mere sound of it, from someone mentioning my home country, or from random strangers in the streets speaking Vietnamese. Everything just reminds me of home, of my mom and dad, my brother, my grandparents, my friends and so on. I cannot forget to mention all the places I had walked through when I was young, all the events I had joined, all the memories I had made with my favourite people. I call it home simply because the thought of finally coming home gives me comfort and encouragement to endure all the negative feelings I have felt and to overcome all difficulties I have faced here in a place that is not my home. A place far, far away from it. It gives me a sense of accomplishment to have been able to represent my home country and do well abroad. I sure hope I made Vietnam proud.
My academic and career goals
25I am currently a Information Technology major student in her sophomore year at Fairleigh Dickinson University Vancouver Campus. What amazes many people around me is that even though I do not have a background in STEM (I have spent seven years of my life learning Literature and Linguistics), I chose IT and Computer Science as my majors in college. It is hard sometimes, but the more I learn, the more I play with code, the more i dabble with logic the more I have come to love it in the end.
In five years, I see myself graduating from FDU Vancouver and working for a software company for 1-2 years, saving up some good money to study a prestigious Masters program in either Canada and the USA. Then I'd do a Computer Science PhD, honing my skill sets to become a great CS professor in a university. Either that, or I could find a great workplace to stay as a software engineer for many years.
Interests / Passions
Sports and music are seriously two of my favorite things to do in the world.
I have done chess, aerobics, martial arts (Wushu, Karate), tennis, badminton and basketball. Among these, basketball stirred the biggest fire in me. I used to play in my high school's women basketball team and for sure, it was probably the best three years of my life.
I cannot sing nor play any instruments, but I love music to death. Being deaf (not inherently), I believe I understand more than anyone the feeling of longing for the sound of music coming alive in my ears. I just love the fact that music is a powerful universal language that can transcend everything, even time.
